ENDOMETRIUM CANCER

Endometrial cancer originates from the uterine lining, which is shed each month during menstruation. Because it is symptomatic, it is often diagnosed in early stages in women. Increasing age is a significant risk factor for the disease. Numerous factors such as being nulliparous, being relatively overweight, metabolic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, the presence of hormone-producing ovarian cysts, and a family history of predisposition all increase the risk. In older women, postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, and in younger women, excessive and frequent bleeding during menstrual cycles or vaginal bleeding that can cause bleeding, can be signs of endometrial cancer.

In patients with symptoms, endometrial thickness should be assessed with ultrasonography and the patient should also be evaluated for associated ovarian cysts. Pathological diagnosis can then be established by obtaining an endometrial biopsy. Following systematic evaluation, surgical treatment can be planned for appropriate patients.
