CERVICAL SMEAR TEST

Smear samples taken from the cervix using a brush are evaluated for pathology using special stains. Most women's Pap smear results are clear. However, occasionally, atypical cell structures can be detected, and abnormal results of varying severity can be encountered. Atypical squamous cells (ASCUS) are the most frequently encountered abnormal cellular changes. Less commonly, atypical squamous cells (ASC-H), low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL), high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL), atypical glandular cells (AGC), and other pathological findings can be observed.
